Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
I joined the practice in 1997 as a Health Care Assistant. I undertake a variety of duties including phlebotomy, assisting with minor operations, new patient checks, ECGs and giving smoking cessation advice. I thoroughly enjoy the variety of work and patient contact. My hobbies include DIY, gardening, swimming and keep fit.
